History
Berserker Tank was introduced to retail TERA as a desperate attempt to get more tanks into dungeon queues. It was forgotten about almost as quickly as it was haphazardly whipped together by Bluehole. Lacking both an enrage skill and party buff in its inception, the class failed to perform two of the expected duties of a proper tank class. It was never taken seriously as a tank until long after retail TERA shut down. Since then, various private servers have reworked the class into a fully functional tank, complete with the ability to enrage bosses and buff their party members.
Who Is This Guide For?
In the private server landscape, Zank is the most homebrew class. Different servers all have their own unique take on the Zank playstyle. There is also little knowledge from retail about how to play the class since it barely existed then. This guide will focus on the Arborea Reborn server’s version of Zank, but many of the same principles can likely still apply to other servers. This guide aims to be as approachable as possible, with little prior knowledge needed to understand it. So whether you are new to Zank, tanking, or TERA, you should find some value in it.
Why Play Zank?
Tanking on Berserker offers a very unique experience, being the only tank with a ‘charge’ skill. Zank is very vulnerable while charging, making overcoming this vulnerability through your mechanical ability and boss knowledge paramount to perform optimally with this class. It is a very simple class to perform well in but demands a lot of knowledge to excel at.
